Hunting and Fishing
Fly Fisherman

Hunting and fishing are very popular activities in northwest Pennsylvania. With many water bodies and a rich heritage of fishing in Pennsylvania, the northwest part of the state is no exception. From lake to creek, from sunfish to trout, and from fly rod to Mickey Mouse pole, this region has something to offer every type of fisherman. It is important that everyone cooperates to make each fishing experience memorable by keeping in mind that our presence has an impact on those around us and on the environment.

Hunting in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been enjoyed since the days this area was referred to simply as "Penn's Woods." With acre after acre of forest and agricultural landscape, game animals are both abundant and healthy. Deer hunting is popular in northwest Pennsylvania, and there are public game lands and state parks offering a wealth of opportunities to hunt. There are also many game farms, and places to try one's hand at sporting clays, skeet and trap shooting.

Pennsylvania Hunting and Fishing Museum

Though still in the planning stage, the Pennsylvania Hunting and Fishing Museum will eventually celebrate two of the most popular and cherished activities in Pennsylvania. Proposed in 1994 by Representative Lynch, the Hunting and Fishing Museum will be constructed in Tidioute, PA. The envisioned museum will be a historical documentation of hunting and fishing in Pennsylvania, as well as an interactive and learning-based museum. Visitors will be able to look at the background of these two great outdoor sports and will also be given the chance to learn safety procedures and gun handling. Possibly, even training in basic canoe techniques will be made available.
